Boys & Girls Club of Del Rey (outside Fresno)
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Fresno County has been in operation in since 1949. The mission of the organization is "to inspire and enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens." The goal of the organization is to provide a safe and positive place for kids that allow them to experience key development factors including feelings of competence, self esteem, belonging, and power.
The Boys and Girls Club of Del Rey is the specific site for the playground project. The current playground was vandalized in July 2004 and is rickety, burned and falling apart. The Del Rey Club is open 6 days per week, 52 weeks a year and provides the kids a safe place after school and all summer.
