Leonard Flynn Elementary School (San Francisco)

Located on Cesar Chavez Boulevard, Leonard R. Flynn Elementary School has been in existence since the 1920s and is part of the San Francisco Unified School District. Its mission is to, provide each student with an equal opportunity to succeed by promoting intellectual growth, creativity, self-discipline, cultural and linguistic sensitivity, democratic responsibility, economic competence, and physical and mental health so that each student can achieve his or her maximum potential. All of the students at Flynn Elementary have the opportunity to learn Spanish, music and art and technology is incorporated into the academic curriculum. The school focuses on guiding the children toward developing character and values.

The small structure that is currently on site is not nearly sufficient to accommodate the huge student population at the school. Through the playground project, the school and community will come together to work towards creating a safe place for kids to play. Additionally, having the opportunity to exercise in a safe and fun environment will have a tremendous impact on the health and well-being of our school's children. The new playground will be used for afterschool activities during the week, on weekends, and during community events.
