La Unión del Pueblo Entero (Salinas)

Founded in 1989 by Cesar E. Chavez, La Union del Pueblo Entero (LUPE) is a non-profit arm of the farm workers movement. LUPE's mission is to engage farm workers and their families to have a voice in transforming the communities in which they live. Field offices like this one in Salinas provide social services for the low-income population so that they can overcome any immediate challenges. This location also offers afterschool programs such as an afterschool homework center and a karate class for children.

Salinas LUPE is located in a low-income area with a high population of children in the surrounding neighborhoods. Currently, there is no playground structure on this site and no playground equipment nearby. The playground project will create a safe and clean place to play for all of the children who come to this location. It will also create a safe place for children to play while their parents participate in the various programs and meetings LUPE has to offer.
