Senate Bill 984
Senate Bill 984 was authored by Senator Polanco, establishing Cesar Chavez Day celebrated annually on March 31. This bill also gave CaliforniaVolunteers the responsibility to administer grants to schools and other education organizations related to Cesar Chavez Day and his legacy. California Department of Education Curriculum
The California Department of Education offers model curriculums related to Cesar Chavez day for all grades from Kindergarten to Twelfth grade. Cesar E. Chavez Institute for Public Policy
Established by San Francisco State University, the Cesar E. Chavez Institute for Public Policy works to encourage academic research of issues related to the Raza community within the San Francisco Bay Area. Freedom of Information Act: Cesar Chavez and United Farm Workers
In 1965 the Federal Bureau of Investigation investigated Chavez and other members of the United Farm Workers based on reports that they were involved in pro Communist activities. Through the Freedom of Information Act over 2000 pages of FBI files have been declassified for the public to read and study. No charges were ever brought against Chavez related to Communist activities.

United Farm Workers
On August 22, 1966, NFWA and AWOC merged to form the United Farm Workers Organizing Committee. The UFW was created to present a more united front for farm workers during the Delano Grape Boycott.
