Service Learning

Service-learning engages students in community service that is connected to their school curriculum. Service-learning is a strategy to improve a student’s learning through their active participation in service. It is integrated into and enhances the academic curriculum of the students while fostering their civic responsibility.

In conjunction with Youth Service California, CaliforniaVolunteers has created an overview describing the key components of service-learning.

By reviewing examples you can see how to apply service-learning to the projects that you design to celebrate Cesar Chavez Day.
